Well, the news you having been waiting for all year …… Andy Howey for the second year in a row claims the trophy. We had more runners competing in Kent Grand Prix events than last year, 107 in fact, which played a part in the club winning both the mens  and womens trophies this year. We also had a record 19 runners competing in 5 or more races, up from last year’s record of 14.Although no one competed in all 10 events, Keith Mitchell, Ana-Maria Green and Alex Holes competed in 9.A special mention goes to Gemma Stilliard and Tom Fox who raced 7 and 6 times respectively in their first season competing for the club. It was a year of tough events with many of them quite undulating and being partially or entirely off road (yes, really), which accounts for the percentages being down on previous years (and why our XC captains kept on popping up !)

Full details for Maidstone and the 2019 year are attached.

The club road Grand Prix Trophy is designed to encourage Harriers to race more often, and on equal terms with all other members as the results are adjusted for age and gender. Each race of the 10 Kent Grand Prix series counts towards our club road grand prix with a percentage result based on finishing time, age and gender. This percentage is calculated according to the 2015 WAVA scale. The winner is the runner with the best score at the end of the season, that is the average of their best five percentages over the series.

2020 fixtures are not out yet, but if the last two years are anything to go by, the first one might be the Canterbury 10 on Sunday 26th January. (Those competing in the South of England XC champs, the day before, will obviously have a distinctive advantage). We had a good turnout of 20 runners in Maidstone earlier this month and here are the results from that event
