Wednesday Run – Bombing Run

News

Please find attached the route for tonight’s run. As you’ll see, we are repeating the ‘Bombing Run’ that I presented for the Wednesday before Remembrance Day last year. This year, it’s the clubnight after, as today is the 75th anniversary of a momentous wartime event which affected Southborough (although you’ll be glad to know we’re not going that far!). The run will take us past notable locations from both wars, some of which are surprising in the severity of the effect on the civilian population.

I’d also like to thank those of you who came on the run to the Airman’s Grave on Ashdown Forest on Sunday. We had a couple of dozen Harriers on the run, with fifteen taking on the whole soggy 12 miles, and Ed joining us to take photos. Last year, a small group from Lingfield Running Club accompanied us on the short route, and not only had they swelled in numbers this year, but they also brought along a group from East Grinstead Runners. In total, almost sixty runners left Gills Lap car park to head to the ceremony.

Many thanks, and see you later.
