Hi All Harriers

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

First of all, a big thank you to those of you that have contacted me over the weekend to help plug the gaps that we have needed to fill, where members have been forced by illness, injury, and last minute work commitments to pull out of this event. Hopefully, we don’t have any more.

I am attaching details of our teams for the evening and we have still managed to keep our 17 teams full.

Because of the reporting that the host Club provide to the athletic press and England Athletics it is important that the running order within teams is strictly adhered to. If, between now and Wednesday we are forced to make amendments the organisers MAY be able to adjust teams, but not category.

I shall be obtaining Race Numbers from Race HQ just after 18:30 and shall remain at Race HQ until 19:15 or when all our numbers have been distributed. Please don’t leave it until the last minute to collect your number from me, as the facility gets quite crowded.

Although some safety pins will be available, you should bring your own. Club Vests must be worn.

To reduce their plastic footprint Beckenham Running Club WILL NOT be providing any water, so please bring your own.

GETTING THERE

As many of our teams will be travelling by public transport to the event and many have also arranged transport by Car Sharing please try to arrange transport independently with other Club members,  For those of you travelling to the Race from London trains from Victoria/Blackfriars to Beckenham Junction (5 minutes walk to HQ) or from Hayes/Charing Cross/ Cannon Street to New Beckenham  (10 minutes walk to Race HQ). Limited Car space will be available for travel to Tunbridge Wells after the race.

If you are driving, Race HQ is located at Beckenham Sports Club, Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, BR3 5AS. There is plenty of free on-road parking on the surrounding roads.

There are changing and showering facilities at Race HQ. There are NO TOILETS in the park.

We usually form our own baggage drop near to the start/finish area – which is what most other clubs do.

The course is regarded as scenically undulating by the very fit (or hilly by the rest of us). Although the lead bike will cycle on the road where the course is outside the park RUNNERS SHOULD STAY ON THE PAVEMENT

At the end of your leg you should run on the left hand side of the finishing hill, whilst your team’s next runner will start from the right hand lane – BUT NOT BEFORE YOUR PREVIOUS LEG RUNNER HAS PASSED THE FINISH LINE. When you have crossed the finish line remain in order into the funnel until the timekeepers have logged you.

After the race there will be some food and drinks available to purchase at Race HQ.

Should you have any difficulties regarding your participation, please get in touch so we may resolve the problem.
