Club Run 7th June – Not from the Nevill

Club Events

Afternoon Harriers,

This coming week, Kent Cricket Club 2nds are playing at the Nevill Club and to avoid any issues we have something a little different for your running delight!

We are going to meet in Tonbridge for a change and take a route east along the River Medway before heading back through hop gardens, barley fields and apple orchards. With a long route of approx. 7.4m, short route of 5.3m and walking options along the river, there is something for everyone. As an added bonus, after Mark’s ‘undulating’ hash last week and the 2nd hanicap next week, it is about as flat a route as you are going to get! it’s a real favourite for those of us who live this way.

We will start and finish close to Tonbridge Fire Station on Cannon Lane TN9 1SW with free parking on the opposite side of the road in front of the Industrial Units. (Pass the fire station on your right and take the 1st left by Alsford Timber to access the parking area) Please aim to arrive in good time for a quick briefing and a 7:30pm prompt start.

The route is easy to follow however I will flour in a few places where confusion may ensue! I am no Casper but, in his memory, have created a couple of maps for you to view the route. For those using Strava, you can access the two routes from the links below.

Short Route:    https://www.strava.com/routes/3099667892024091560

Long Route:     https://www.strava.com/routes/3099667280630358710

The ground is very dry but rutted in places. Road shoes will be fine unless you want a little more support from your trail shoes.

Original plan was to start and finish at the Poacher & Partridge so that we could refresh there afterwards. Unfortunately, they are not able to accommodate us (limited parking apparently) so I suggest for those that would like to, we take the quick drive up to the Vauxhall Inn just off the Pembury Road in Tonbridge which has ample parking and is convenient for those heading back to Tunbridge Wells later.

Hope to see many of you on Wednesday evening enjoying what Tonbridge has to offer (other than Waitrose of course )

As Geoff would say, it’s time to commit….

Colin
