London Marathon marshalling information

News

Afternoon all.
For those of you doing the marshalling with me next Sunday morning, please see below the lists of who is in what section & where you are being picked up. If I have made any mistakes, just message me & I’ll change it on my system.

There are three coach pick up locations.

1. Linden Park Road (bus stop opposite side of Sainsbury’s) (Lin)
2. St John’s Road (bus stop across road from entrance to Woodbury Park Road) (St)
3. Mabledon bus lay-by / stop (on A26 just before A21 slip road) (M)

The coach will pick up from Linden Park Road at 6am, then pick up at the other two locations. Then straight to Blackheath.
I will then pick up any kit we need & get everyone checked in.

In your section, check barriers are placed in front of vulnerable houses, if necessary. Check central reservation for barriers & tape where necessary. Take care not to crash and drag any barriers in front of houses early.
Note: Toilets located in Vicarage Avenue.
RUNNERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CROSS CENTRAL RESERVATION TO ACCESS.
By 08:00 all marshals must be in position with all key sections covered.

Race start times 2025
08:50 Wheelchair athletes
09:05 Elite women
09:35 Elite men & mass race

Note the main pedestrian crossing near blue start line is displaced further away from the start line. This should be visible and direct any spectators/runners here to cross.

There is always the small chance of potential problems (protesters) on Shooters Hill Road prior to the 09.35 mass start. We need to be vigilant & to ask questions (be polite) if anyone is acting suspiciously on the day.

Just so you are all aware, the BBC will be using a large drone for broadcasting before & during the event.

Last runner will depart the blue start at 11:30. After the last runner has cleared the roundabout, remove barriers from entrances to houses, stack barriers in-groups and remove any barrier tape.

I will then return my radio to the Start Control cabin.

UNFORTUNATELY, LIKE LAST YEAR, WE WILL NOT BE TAKING THE COACH INTO LONDON

Those that want a lift back to Tunbridge Wells can then get back on the coach. There will be a group making their own way into London to watch the race, from Blackheath Station.

It is a good idea to bring with you suitable clothing for the conditions, plus any food & drink etc, in a small rucksack.

Also, please contact me if you have any questions.

See you all Sunday morning.
