Dear Harriers,
The TWH Coaching team would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those members who have attended and supported the Monday evening track sessions both in the past and currently. We have seen attendance steadily increase since Covid and hope that this trend continues. Unfortunately despite increasing numbers we have seen our costs increase at significantly higher levels than the funds contributed by members. We are currently in the position where there is a considerable shortfall between the fees paid by members each week and the cost levied by Tonbridge School Centre (TSC) to hire the track, which has increased by 1/3 in the last 4 years.
As I have stated in the past we do not run these sessions for profit. Coaches are not paid and fees paid by members only go towards the hire cost we pay to TSC. We have tried to keep the fees that we charge for these sessions reasonable and affordable for members and have undertaken a benchmarking exercise with other clubs to ensure that we are not charging over the odds. In fact even with the price increase our fees are still markedly lower than many other clubs in the surrounding area.
With effect from the 1st October 2024, the new fees will be:
£3 per session for TWH Members
£5 per session for Non-Members.
Tonbridge track is a world class facility and was recently used by the Australian Athletics team as their training base during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. In addition all our coaches are England Athletics licenced and have undertaken safeguarding and first aid training. We hope that you feel that the new fees still offer good value for money and continue to come along to the Monday evening sessions and make use of this great facility.
