According to the Mike King flowchart of such things it appears its down to me to write the race report for the second race in the Rye Summer Series. I actually think the flowchart says “did anyone else race as well as Mike? If yes – they write the report…”
Anyway it was another hot summers evening for this fast flat 10k from Rye Harbour. We hoped that the heat might mean that the fast runners had stayed away and gone to the pub to enjoy the lovely evening but when the fast runners are only 16 years old that theory falls down!!!
This time our team of deckchairs lost Hayley and Chris (and the mysterious Michelle) but gained Mike.
What else can I say? It was hot – although personally I found the race less painful than last month – maybe I’m getting used to racing in the heat – maybe I paced it better – who knows!? My time was a couple of seconds quicker than last month but at least I didnt nearly die on the line this time.

22nd (43:47) Sam Pyre (Rye Runners) – 1st lady
23rd (44:20) Nicola Morris – 2nd lady
24th (44:32) Mark Taylor – 1st M65
I managed to pick up our bottles of wine for the team prizes from last month – Keiran I will try to remember to bring yours on Sunday. Chris – if you let me know if you are coming on Sunday or when you are next at the club I will try to bring yours too.
The final race in the series is a 5k in early September.
